Glass Archipelago

The first appointment with Glass Archipelago was on Tuesday 11 September at The Venice Glass Week Hub hosted at Palazzo Querini, in Calle Lungo San Barnaba in Venice.

It began at 3.30 pm with “Glass Archipelago – A round table for a Murano 4.0″: a meeting open to the public with bodies, institutions and the major experts in the art of Murano glass. The round table was a moment of reflection on the revolution that is slowly affecting the island and its production not only in the way of thinking about the product, but also in communicating and protecting it.

On this occasion, the exhibition of the same name “Glass Archipelago” was inaugurated and presented to the public, created by the architect Matteo Silverio  and the visual artist Martin Romeo, a true multimedia installation capable of communicating the tradition of Vetro Artistico® Murano in a completely innovative way. The exhibition represented Murano production: a suspended structure, inspired by the topography of Murano and animated by multimedia expedients capable of conveying original reflections, details and colours, highlighting the uniqueness of the objects on display and the high degree of professionalism of the craftsmanship artistic Murano glass.

The protagonists of the exhibition were the glasses chosen specifically to represent the best of Murano’s artistic production. The suspended structure of the installation was intended to recall the topography of the island of Murano: an archipelago of small and large businesses, connected to each other by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano “bridge”.

The exhibition was open to the public from 9 to 16 September 2018 from 10.00 to 18.00.

The activity was carried out with the contribution of the Veneto Region and the collaboration of Adiconsum Veneto and Federconsumatori.
