La Fornasotta

In 1966 in an old furnace in Murano, a young boy began his journey working glass; he was a boy. Interest and research in glass were fundamental points that characterized him; his goal was to become a master glassmaker in his own furnace. After various experiences, that boy today, with forty years of work in glass, has become the master Gabriele Urban and has been working in his own furnace since 1995: “la Fornasotta”.

It is interesting to note that within this activity there is collaboration and family harmony in everything: from the relationship with customers to the creation of new objects; everyone enriches the development of each creation with their own ideas and opinions, always keeping one objective in mind: Murano is synonymous with glass. In “Fornasotta” we always try to find an echo of sensitivity made of light, reflections and colors in everything. We can thus say that this furnace is a creative example of the various Murano glassmaking techniques: from the classic working of murrine, to the tesserae, from the simple barrel, to very particular compositions with glass powders and also other extravagant creations made on request.
